X-League

Recommended Posts

Now that we have a champion in our midst(grats Shinyrio), and hopefully many more to come, we can provide you all with details on X-League. Officially. You'll still have your standard league rules such as only one challenge per day, and being locked into the moves you choose. However, we came up with some changes here and there that you may or may not be aware of based on public discussions we've had. Those are as follows:

-X-League challengers get 1 additional Pokemon which can be a legendary and are allowed to change 1 Pokemon from their regular  team for anything BUT a legendary.

-X-League challengers are allowed to challenge any leader in whichever order they wish.

-Leaders can use 2 legendaries of their type. All uber megas/legendaries are available to them.

-Battles must be done in the X-League tier.

If you have any questions feel free to ask them here, or on the Redemption Showdown channel/Discord channel.

so if I understood correctly, you have to take at least five of your pokemon from your regular league challenge with you, youre allowed to change the remaining member of the team into another mon that isnt legendary, and you get a seventh pokemon that may be legendary. quick questions if this is the case.

- for the pokemon that remained from your original league challenge, are you allowed to give them a new moveset for the x-league? or do they have to stick with the same four moves as on the original challenge?

- are uber legendary pokemon allowed as the legendary pokemon of choice?

- if yes, would it be allowed to put something as, say, battle bond greninja or uber megas (salamence, gengar, etc) as your seventh pokemon?

1.No new movesets.

2. Yes you can choose an uber legendary.

3. You can replace a team member from your original team with any non legendary Pokemon in addition to the legendary you pick as your seventh Pokemon, this includes uber megas and ash-greninja. However, if you should choose Ash-Greninja you would be stuck with that as it counts as a forme change much like the Rotom formes. Meaning, no Protean Greninja.

A couple of questions:

1. Why is a completely new team not allowed?

2. There is a mention of an additional pokemon. Does that mean that challengers can build different teams based on what they have available?

I only have one, this is probably the first time I've heard X-League so pardon my lack of knowledge

is there any requirement to participate in the X-League? Like for example have beaten Redemption League?

You have to beat the normal Redemption League to do the X League, yes. The original Reborn League also had an X League that functioned this way.

- ..I would say it's obvious as to why you're not allowed a completely new team, but the general gist of not giving you a new team is to actually see how far you can go with an extra Pokémon. If you can hold your own against Mega Pokémon from all 18 types, can you do the same against those of the legendary types among mentioned 18 types? Those in the stronger ranks of those 18 types? You're given a 7th Pokémon and the ability to make that Pokémon have the desired moveset that could cover what your current team is lacking in.

That being said, you've beaten the normal Redemption League with your team, why would you want to give up on a team you're synchronized with if you made it that far? That's kind of disrespectful for the team that worked so hard to get so far.

- The 7th Pokémon is interchangeable for the challenger at any time they wish. Be aware of the fact that your 7th Pokémon will be registered onto a Trainer Card, along with its moveset.
