[IC] TotMV:G2: Jak and Daxter Subplot: Grassweed Forest.

As the ship zooms through space, a message hailing the ship is sent to it, upon accepting the message, a hologram of a lady in coppery goggles and a cloak like lab coat appears on screen in the cockpit.

"Greetings travelers, my name is Lua Da, I am currently seeking assistance in an archeological assessment of Precursor Technology, any who accept will be rewarded handsomely on completion of the mission, via access to technological components, materials, and blueprints derived from this expedition, the best to you, Professor Lua Da."

Those in the cockpit would end up parking the ship in the world the signal came from, landing the castle in a sparsely wooded forest, mostly tall grasses and large trees, rustling, chirping, and other such animal noises saturate the wood, and a path seems roughly worn into the ground nearby, the message gives coordinates as well, granting the useful power of navigation in this strange new world.

Those who seemed interested followed along, coming to a town in a clearing, trees and grass thinning until they arrived, a small sign labels the location as "Grassweed Village", and another clue is the massive brick manor on the outskirts of town.

This is where the heroes find themselves after their trek through the forest, chopping through vine and grass to fight to this patch of civilization.

The Large Brick manor looks a bit like if someone with a copper fetish had had a falling out with the substance, strange artifacts are stattered around, some smaller than a fist, others as large as an engine block, all of them burnt black and scarred.

Similarly, the grand door leading in has seen better days.  it's knocker lightly rusted, and it's wood dry and apparent in this dryness.

A noble sign grants even more knowledge to the travelers, "Archeological Society of Grassweed Village"

Checking around town, you get an idea of what is there.

People move about on their usual daily routines.

Mitsurugi steps out of the castle. She breathes deeply of the air outside - fresh air, that she was still enjoying despite the trek. The terrain hadn't particularly bothered her, given her ability to fly and the fact that she tended to be somewhat less impeded by mundane brush than others due to her status as a nature goddess. "I believe this manor is our destination, no?"

"Hm.  It seems likely," Alexandria begins walking towards the building immediately; with her speed, it'll take some time to get there.  Since she's going to be taking a leisurely stroll through town either way, she window-shops at the various businesses in town on her way.  "Allthough, I do have to wonder what kind of archaeological expedition would be able and willing to requisition an escort from another world.  This place seems far too small to support an organization with such capabilities."

Ritsu steps out of the castle and starts walking towards the building in question. She could simply teleport there, but she decides to enjoy the walk while she can Breathers were not commonplace in her line of work, so she decides that she will make use of this one. I'm wondering what reasons this expedition is requesting people from other worlds. What manner of artifacts here could present a need for us to come here, Ritsu thinks to herself after hearing Alexandria's own statement.

Jade O'Duffle

"Well this expedition must be important enough to hire us and looks can be deceiving. I just hope the payment they give us is worth the trouble." Jade replies to the the android as he follows behind the group. An expedition seemed like an easy job but they'll see once they reach manor. He takes a glace around the people who deicded to take the job with him and does notsee any familiar faces. I guess now is a good of time as any to introduce yourself. "Also I don't seem to recognize most of you, the name is Jade O'Duffle it's a pleasure."

Gary left with the small group consisting of two golem like females, two other females, and a male; only one of which he had ever met. the terrain reminded him of a jungle biome back home, and the urge to cut down a tree with his fist was one he had to hold back. once they reached a pair of large metal gates, one of the females asked them to confirm if this was indeed the place they were suppose to be, and the golem-like female he had already met replied that she thought it might, and that the situation was a bit strange. "Well, whatever it is, I think it should be interesting. I have done my share of similar things in my world as far as I can tell; in fact, I would even venture to say that these sorts of things are one of the few ways to obtain certain things where I come from... even going across dimensions to get them if that's what it takes."

the male he had never met spoke up, and provided his feedback, then introduced himself as 'Jade O'Duffle'.

"Greetings. I am Gary."

Kenta appears behind Gary and casually slaps him on the back. "It's Onion Cheese-Ring guy..Gary right?" Kenta was walking confidently carrying a duffle bag and some fruit that he had purchased as a snack. " See any cuties?"  Kenta examines the party trying to look and see what he is working with and how many individuals were in the party. He is waiting and listening for Gary's response as he looks around his pace matching the groups.

(19, 12) Windowshopping demonstrates the various wares of the three shops, the Pawn Shop, the Tool Store, and the Smithy.

Pawn Shop.

Spoiler

Junk: A Pile of junk, used in upgrading items, it can also be scrapped for a small item.

Pawn: The user can pawn off an item, obviously, getting some currency for it until they pay it back to get their item back.

Tool Store

Spoiler

Farming Tool: A tool used for Farming, this store has several, in Iron, Steel, and an odd Copper Metal.

Harvesting Tool: A tool used for Harvesting. This store has several, in Iron, Steel, and an odd Copper Metal.

Small Tool: A Small Tool. This store has several, in Iron, Steel, and an odd Copper Metal.

Smithy

Spoiler

Nails, Pins and Screws: This Smithy has cans of Nails and such laying out. They could probably make more.

Plates: Plates of metal, made from Iron, Steel, and A strange Coppery Metal.

Metal Ingots: Several of Iron, Steel, and that Coppery Metal.  There are also Orbs of it floating around.

Scrap: A pile of useless Scrap, it could be useful for something.  Can be scrapped for a useful shaped metal object.

Odd Artifacts: A pile of them is ready to be poked at, they look strange, and are all made of that coppery metal.

There are also other mundane markets, for the livelyhood of the people, which one can guess at, such as food, seeds, and sundries.

Provided someone had knocked on the manor doors, they open quickly.

"And you would be Right dear, I DON'T have enough people here to help me normally, but I am glad someone came along! I've been sending out signals for weeks with this junk!"

The lady brushes back her hair with a hand, she is covered in soot, and her goggles are askew, a wrench is in one hand, a little welding apparatus is attached to it.

"Well, come in, you are all busy people I suppose."

She waves at the group to come into the manor, looking exhausted.

Someone looking closer would see the small camera and microphone at the top of the door.  It seems she caught the end of the conversation.

In the Background, you all see the Castle revving up, rushing away and disappearing in a crack of light, leaving behind a smouldering trail where it's treads dug, it's radiative pulse also carried with it a strange ghostly lady, flying through the air like a smouldering brick, before being "caught" by whoever was quickest, if that is at all possible.

It seems your way back lies in this world for now.

Mitsurugi avoided the urge to sigh at the man. Why were human men so fixated on. . . Well, the other one seemed decent enough, but this seemed to be a rather irritating trend among them. Regardless, it seemed there was another individual here to talk to them.

What was that? Is that a person? Mitsurugi leaps gracefully into the air, and continues traveling until her flight path meets the stranger's; she catches her as gently as possible and lowers her to the earth safely. "Are you safe?"

After recieving an answer, she proceeds into the house after a polite nod, disregarding the woman's rather abrupt manner for the moment. "You said you needed assistance with something?"

The lady rushes ahead, entering the complex, for that is all you can put to it in name, you find it to be full of odds and ends, machines which serve no purpose, machines which serve unknown purposes, and everything before, after, and between, it is like walking into a watch, if the watch was in the process of being built.  the Manor's first floor has 4 Rooms, 2 on each side, and a stairwell splitting at two sides and going to an upper floor, where a tablet rests.  As with all the other machines in the room, this Tablet is comprised primarily of a strange Coppery Metal.  It practically glows to the senses of those who can detect the invisible, such as magic senses and full spectrum vision, the material is interwoven to the barest particulate with various subtle and grand energies.

"This is what I need help with.  As you can see, this incredible work of science and art is in pieces."

Indeed, the one thing marring the plate's beauty is it's damage, it is split in half, missing that other half, a jagged gash runs down it's right side, showing the scars of it's separation from it's sister part.

"This, is one of the greatest works of the Precursors, the Precursors are supposedly the beings responsible for our world, and even today, their artifacts can be found all over the world, and if the legends are to be believed, all over the universe, in fact.  They were masters of Eco, the energy flowing through our world, and knew how to create works of incredible power with it."

"This tablet, as near as i can surmise, is how they were able to maintain this universal presence, or perhaps, part of how."

She clears her throat, and points at the broken portion.

"I say as near as I surmise, because I only have half of the Darned Thing!  The other half is apparently on a planet far away from here, including it's coordinates,  as it is, I have no hope of replicating this legendary machine, not fully, for you see, this device can breach space itself, bridging two locations at no cost, indeed, it only requires an initial investment of energy, and then it can simply hold that space together indefinitely."

She sighs.  Walking over, she sits on a couch nearby, an armchair really, and idly fiddles with her wrench.

"Without that other half, I can only create one device from the current blueprints, a miniature emergency module, which breaches only one location, indeed, it breaches the very world that has the temple I seek."

She takes a hard look at everyone here.

"This is my offer and need, Help me create the Emergency Module, Help me best the temple's trials, and preserve the knowledge and relics of this great race, and I will provide you those same blueprints, those same technologies.  Be it Precursor Metal, a material known for being the staple of every single precursor artifact, Eco, the lifeblood of the planet, or even artifacts known for their incredible uses and inexplicable sciences, all of those will be in this temple, should you accept."

After a while with arms spread, She coughs nervously, and drops the arm thing...

"...S-sorry... That's all I've got."

Well, it seems when the passion for history left her, her confidence deflated without all the hot air...

Jade O'Duffle

"Well miss, I can see you've worked hard to get where you are right now," Jade responds in awe at all these machinery. He has seen a lot of high tech in his travels though these, for some reason, he found rather interesting. "While I may not know much about these 'Precursor' fellas or whatever this Eco stuff is, but seeing as how you went through all the trouble of calling us, I may as well help." He gave a smug grin to the girl and tips his hat to her. He's got to stop being so nice all the time or he'll never earn enough money to keep food on the table. Oh well. "Now I may not be too helpful when it comes to building that machine of yours but I'm more than capable of going through that temple you spoke of. It'll probably be as easy as killing bandits held up in some ruins out in the prairie."

Kino

Having exited the castle later than the others, Kino found herself caught in the arms of another, a rather beautiful girl of her racial heritage. Japanese, much like herself, her pair of golden eyes bearing the same hue of the nun's unblemished hair. She seemed rather similar to her, at a glance; both wore robes of a new grayed coloration, though Kino could see that the girl's naturally assumed the dull color, whereas Kino's ceremonial garbs, once a white hue that matched the purity of virgin snow, had withered into the gray as per the ages that passed with it, collected by stains of dirt, and dust. Kino had not feared for her life when she fell from the castle; she lacked the ability to feel physical pain, or anguish. Frigid blood ran in her veins, her heart barely beating within her, sustaining whatever it was that allowed her to assume her sentient, human form. She was grateful for Mitsurugi's kind gesture, nevertheless, and, getting herself up, began to introduce herself.

"I am well," She solemnly replied. "You have my gratitude, miss. It is my pleasure to make your acquaintance. My name is Kino Saginomiya. And of yours?"

Let me say hello, a voice interrupted her from within as she made acquaintances with the girl before her. The voice connected to Kino telepathically, and Kino did well to respond in kind.

In time, Enma. Her sister's undead form was not of a being one would easily accept with little suspicion or worry. If she were to set her mischievous young sister free, she knew not of the implications that would follow. In time you will.

Where are we playing today?  Our friends, too, are eager…. An amalgamated chorus of voices chanted the excited spirit’s words, before a cacophony of excited wails and cheers heard only by the ghostly siblings resounded in her mind, trailing behind her.

Patience, sister. We are venturing into unknown ground.  She replied.

Look at all the life here! Enma whispered, an almost fell tone blending it with the mischief in her ghastly voice. Kino surveyed the surroundings that encircled her, knowing that it had been many a year since she had been in a place brimming with the fervor of civilization, the robust and lively shows of activity and interacting things that only existed in her dreams, once a privilege she had, and now, one that she had willingly forsaken. We must all play, sister! More will join us. They will all join us. We'll be one big happy family.

Those who possess life need not bear our fate, she corrected. The people here needed to enjoy their lives while it clung to them still, being the most precious thing one could possess, as many of Kino's elders would have told her. Even in her ghostly form, she was still bound barely by the thinnest thread of life, maintaining her sentient form in flesh and bone, yet connected to the hallowed dimension of death as it struggled to dominate her. The two sides made Kino, a thin divide between breath and grave, as she would proceed with her duties in a life she knew not when it would end.

You dislike competition, Kino-nee. How sweet of you to be so....possessive.

Perhaps, she hid a bemused chuckle. Time and tide wait for no one. Let us familiarize ourselves with the people here.

We have eternity. We ARE eternity.

An eternity that is to end, she advised her, again. Whenever it may be.

But you and I will stay together always, won't you, dear sister?

Forevermore, she answered, not a hint of contrition or wavering as she said so. She had willingly taken this responsibility, a hellish, gauche one as it would have been, to be together with her sister -- the closest she could get to be with her, to feel her, to talk with her, to continue loving her, while maintaining her inherited responsibility to gather the last souls that existed out there, hungry and desperate for release. A debarred unison as it would have been, the extent of that love, was perhaps, to the two sisters, one that afforded any price that their being together would demand.

Getting a closer look at the girl, she was more than passing strange. She had a youkai-like aura about her, but didn't seem to be one. . . A magician nearing the cusp of her research? No, that was a simple matter of spellcasting, and magicians had less fear, less subtle menace to them. Still, she didn't seem to be actively hostile, but was worth watching regardless. She would not permit a threat to the humans under her, not so soon after she'd had her own torn away. "I have been called Saigai-no-Kami, but those familiar with me personally know me as Saigai Mitsurugi."

She turned to the woman that had apparently called them here to search out an ancient relic for her. Something incredibly powerful, magically, but she didn't seem to have much in the way of malign will. "This device seems to be very important to you. I will lend you my assistance."

((Minor Announcement, this plot has the world famous "Peculiar Fate" gimmick, if you so choose, you can opt to take a Flaw instead of a Wound if you fall in battle.  However, while the flaw in question is not too Crippling, it is Drastic in ways unrelated to mechanics and stats.))

"Y-yes, and even while building, you may have uses for your... s-shooting talents, sir. I need to gather up a lot of durable material and a reliable power source in-in order to run this machine and make it..."

"None of the stuff here will do, This is t-tertiary Precursor metal, it's used in stuff like Eco Vents, I need Primary Precursor metal for this, a-and I don't have any Power Cells that I can spare towards powering it.  You will need to look around for some stuff to p-procure, if you don't have about a ton of incredibly durable metal and a decent power source on you..."

She pauses for a moment.

"T-the villagers are always helpful to me with my studies, you might be able to get them to cough up some Power Cells, and there are still relics, even in the area, finding Precursor Orbs should be a cinch for a-adventurers like yourself..."

"T-thanks a lot, this kind of historic stuff needs to be preserved, so everyone can learn from it!  So I r-really appreciate it."

"I'll start working up the plans, just come back here if you are ready, or if you need anything, I guess..."

Alexandria leaves the house and approaches the strange boulder.  Something about it seems off...

She gives it a full scan, including spectrum analysis on a core sample as deep as she can easily drill.

Alexandria considers her companions for a few seconds.  "Jade, Gary, please come and take a look at this," She picks up the boulder and carefully sets it to the side, out of the way.  "There is a passage under this rock.  Someone went to a great deal of trouble to keep it hidden.  What we seek is quite valuable.  It could be down here."

With the general idea of what to do Jade heads out but stops to see Alexandria calling him over. Heading over to his ally he is impressed at how she moved that boulder aside and was able to find something so quickly. Curious he approaches the now revealed passage that was hidden underneath the rock. "This is quite a find isn't it. I'd bet the hat on my head that there's something down there we could use." Just from the surface looking inside, Jade looks deep into the passage way to see if there anything note worthy before the groups decides to enter. Best to take some level of caution in situations like these.

((OOC: for simplicity's sake, I am going to break from my usual narration, and skip ahead....))

((OOC: BTW, Gary still does not know Alexandria's name, as he was never told her name... so he will continue to call her 'golem-like female' until he actually knows her name))

Gary looks at the passage revealed by the golem-like female.  "I agree. Anyone bring torches? I would hate to get ambushed in the dark by zombies or something..."

EDIT: ((OOC: I realize Gary has torches, but he doesn't have many of them, thus why he asked))

Looking in, you see a murky basement made of brickwork, it appears to have once been a wine cellar, and now, a wine grave.

There are 3 Empty Chests, 2 Bags of Rotted Grain, 2 Sealed Clay Jugs, 10 Casks of Wine, and 2 Ruined Casks of Wine.

You also note, that there are 10 Floating Orbs of Precursor Metal, some sort of levitation technology?  In any case, you are 10 Orbs closer to your immediate goal it seems.

Several Rats are scurrying around, spooked at the interlopers you serve as.

You doubt much of this would be missed, as it is.

Gary looks around the room, amazed to find it with a similar setup to old dungeons he had raided... well, all except the orbs... "not sure what those floating things are, but I am going to try one of these chests... hopefully they are not traps..."

Gary attempts to open the nearest chest (first chest to the opening on the right)

Kino

"A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Mitsurugi-san." Kino curtsied as she managed a smile. "If I may be so bold, though, Saigai-no-Kami? Are you by any chance named after a god or any other sort?"

This girl fashions herself a god? Enma asked. Must be a fun one to play with.

That, I find uncertain. Hush, now, Enma -- I will speak to you soon.

Kino-nee, I sense friends in the northeast. Her sister pestered, delighted voices chanting in unison with her. They will not wait.

Patience, sister. She replied, For until our exchange is complete.
